Ontario must be totally anoxic at depth (unsuprising given inlet flow rates and fertilizer runoff). Things will last a very long time when there's nothing to consume or corrode them.

I find well-preserved shipwrecks to be really unsettling. It's a superstitious fear. Even the idea of swimming in water above it frightens me.
