that cognitive dissonance tag is being worked so hard right now
Camonk - 2009-08-22
He's so smug for a liar and ideologue.
I think Billo picked this clip to respond to because he knows TDS is on vacation and won't reply.
He did this once before. He waited until Daily Show was on a break to slam Stewart over some bullshit, despite the fact what he was talking about happened a week or two earlier.
j lzrd / swift idiot
O'Rei has a glass jaw, but he keeps wondering why even nebbish Jews like Stewart knock him ass-over-teakettle...

Are Stewart and O'Reilly working together to destroy America?
America destroyed itself a long time ago - these two are just making a living off of the aftermath.
fluffy - 2009-08-22
It's like he's trying to use Stewart's tricks against him but completely fails to understand how they work.
Yeah, Stewart knows exactly what type of show he's doing: a comedy show. Comedy is made of exaggerration and clever timing, and he's never said that people should get their news from him. O'Reilly doesn't get it and has never gotten it: you can't argue with someone who is willfully ridiculous.
In fact, he's actually said numerous times quite clearly that the Daily Show is NOT the news, and people should NOT take it seriously. Billo's a disgustingly smug fuck.
Also, about the protester clip, O'Reilly still DOES say that the protesters are loons, and NOT just the ones who are arrested. "1000 protesters have been arrested, and survey shows many protesters are simply loons". The "and" suggests a completely different idea. Any way you cut it, this is not very different, if different at all, from what Stewart said.
*puts away soapbox*

That second point makes my head hurt. She thinks the largest religious group in America is persecuted in America. But somehow she's not a whiner because she doesn't think other religions should be persecuted. What?
Timothy A. Bear - 2009-08-22
He feels the need to repudiate the factuality of comedy.
Billie_Joe_Buttfuck - 2009-08-22
This man is always so fucking punchable.
GlennFinito - 2009-08-22
"Some young people actually believe he presenting an accurate picture of this country on his program... And that is frightening"
Geee Billo, doesn't it suck that John's satire news program actually provides political commentary with greater insight and veracity?
Oh yeah, he's also funnier than you.
Hooker - 2009-08-22
I love how the pitch of his voice raises his voice whenever he's about to try and reframe something. It's like the Idiot's Guide to Terrible Propaganda.
Who would watch a show where a small man would try to defend himself against the attacks of a comedian?
Actually, now that I've phrased that question out, it does seem like a pretty great premise.

Go back to play Battletoads Bill.

"If you play the tape backwards, you see the officers help King up and send him on his way!"
Midnight Man - 2009-08-22
I like how the 'here's what was REALLY said' bits fail to recontextualize the thrust of the quotes at all. You really have to wonder what is going through his/his producers' head(s) to think that 'Christians are the easy target' parses radically differently from 'Christians are the easy target, compared to Muslims or Jews'.
dicktatortot - 2009-08-22
You know Bill being butt hurt but Jon is actually kinda funny. Bet it never crossed his mind that this might actualy be comedy, unwittingly of course, but comedy nontheless.
Rodents of Unusual Size - 2009-08-22
Wow, he really doesn't get it, does he?
Of course, this is the same man who expressed surprise black people could peacefully sit in a restaurant and eat food with forks, so...nothing surprises me from him.

Jon Stewart WENT OFF THE RAILS!!!!!!!!!!
At least once a week, The Daily Show will do a segment which is meant to display elements of Fox News which are disingenuous, misleading, hypocritical, or simply wrong. At least once a week, but usually more.
But then if that segment lobs The Great Insult and actually refer to Fox News as "liberal"!? That, sir, will not stand!
Xenocide - 2009-08-22
"TO BE FAAAAAAAAAAIR?
I love how Bill's showing of the longer clips doesn't change the context at all.
Mad Struggle - 2009-08-22
Dur dur de dur, you're going on vacation for three weeks and wont be able to respond on your show.
My god, is he smug. If smug was poisonous, he'd kill everyone within five miles of him.
foopants - 2009-08-22
Stewart's clip - great. This - boring.
teethsalad - 2009-08-22
i bet he has really shitty pool parties
"What I'm saying is, Bob took it WAY out of context when I said 'I love the chocolate'. What I REALLY said was 'I love the chocolate that God poured over SOME people to make them African American! Enrique, make me another black russian."
Riskbreaker - 2009-08-23
I'm surprised that Cena_Mark is not trolling around here.
shush, it is late.
let the cena_mark dream his conservative dreams peacefully, unaware of this.
Space Helicopter - 2009-08-24
See, Jon Stewart's not really liberal, he just has to cater to his audience!
Paranatural - 2009-08-28
It's hilarious how he thinks he's making a counterpoint, but is only actually strengthening Jon's point. Simply amazing.
kwash - 2009-10-10
But the...the context changes nothing.
