What an awesome old guy with a cool store. This is the kind of feel good thing I like to see.

Anhedonia - 2009-09-07

Cool and informative.

Syd Midnight - 2009-09-07

Some people are lucky enough to be crazy in just the right way, so that it brings joy to themselves and everyone else.

chumbucket - 2009-09-07

it's just that right amount of diversity that allows the entire species to evolve

Kumquatxop - 2009-09-07

Oh man I've been to this place! It really was quite the mecca.

MrBuddy - 2009-09-07

Where is it?! I need to go there!

Walker - 2009-09-07

Looks like LA:

This guy rules.

Mr. Happy Bubbles

KnowFuture - 2009-09-07

I had no idea Kosher Coke was made with cane sugar.
I know Mexican Coke is. Mexican bottlers can't afford HFCS and Jews who keep kosher wouldn't let that crap into their bodies.

I also had no idea Rock N' Rye was pretty much exclusive to/invented in Detroit. I'd just assumed that every region of the US has their own cheapo soda maker with their own variant on it.

I'd be tempted to get really really dressed up, withdraw a hundred dollar bill, go in there, and ask for the fanciest soda.

Evilhead - 2009-09-07

That's the thing. Even the fanciest soda will still only cost a couple bucks.

If you are in the LA area this place is really worth a visit. A great selection of sodas of course. But they don't mention in this video the few aisles in the back full of a few hundred amazing beers and other alcoholic beverages. So you'll have a great soda with your lunch and some nice adults sodas with your dinner.

Big Beef Burritos Supreme - 2009-09-07

I noticed a Budvar Budweiser in there when he was talking about bottles - it's a truly awesome beer and nothing to do with Anheuser Busch.

Camonk - 2009-09-07

Mexican coke is awesome as hell.

Syd Midnight - 2009-09-08

You can tell he's barely making a profit because his total passion is selling soda, so even rare stuff wouldn't be too expensive.

Sudan no1 - 2009-09-07

Now I want to drink all those crazy sodas at the end.

socialist_hentai - 2009-09-07

The feel good clip of the year on POE tv.

mouser - 2009-09-07

Yep.

Made me burp too.

dueserpenti - 2009-09-07

I enjoy this on so many levels.

Rape Van Winkle - 2009-09-07

What mild and polite comments so far. Let's celebrate with a bottle of smiles.

Rabid Vegan - 2009-09-07

I can't hate this at all.

Broose182 - 2009-09-07

This was great.

Camonk - 2009-09-07

I tried to find something to piss me off or annoy me. Impossible. I want to go to his store and try all kinds of sodas.

yeahjim - 2009-09-07

Man is a motherfuckin hero.

revdrew - 2009-09-07

Every city needs one of these. I think it would solve many problems.

hornung - 2009-09-07

hotlips, go portland.

Xenocide - 2009-09-07

That guy makes me happy. I hardly ever drink soda anymore but I would hang out in his store all the time. DRINKING VEGETABLES.

craptacular - 2009-09-07

he makes me feel guilty for only really drinking Coca Cola. too bad i don't live in LA or i'd go there twice a week

CornOnTheCabre - 2009-09-07

"The finest bubbles I've ever tasted!"

this man IS Willy Wonka. minus the whole slave trade thing.

That guy - 2010-04-08

The Oompa people were well taken care of.

OxygenThief - 2010-12-01

Two water fountains means shorter lines for everyone!

pathetique - 2009-09-07

"kids don't drink vegetables!"

i want him to be my adopted grandpa.

crote - 2009-09-07

:D

Tameriaen - 2009-09-07

I love Galco's, it's about three miles from my house. John's a really nice guy, and, sodas aside, he makes kick ass subs. The store is in Los Angeles, in the Highland Park area if anyone's local. He's got an online store where you can order whatever soda from him. http://www.sodapopstop.com/

Testicles of Doom - 2009-09-08

Totally going to order some.

RockBolt - 2009-09-12

Oh dear, I did not need to know I can order all of that great stuff right this very minute

dododge - 2009-09-13

Shipping prices are a killer, though; not surprising since it's heavy glass bottles full of water. To Maryland it about doubles the cost.

That didn't stop me from putting together a sampler pack anyway. I've got to know what some of those things taste like.

Evilhead - 2009-09-19

Usually very good!

And what's great is I think he distributes his soda around the general LA area, at least for hip restaurants. Most places I like have a fridge with at least a few different types of untypical sodas.

RockBolt - 2014-01-22

So this place is actually 45 minutes or so from where my brother lives, and every time I have visited I have made a trip and ended up with at least a case of soda. This one video has cost me hundreds of dollars now. I should be angry, but it has been delightful!

Lauritz Melchior - 2009-09-10

I don't really care for soda and I could get lost in his store.

Rodents of Unusual Size - 2009-09-11

This was my thought verbatim.

I don't ever drink soda, and from his descriptions I found myself drooling.

jangbones - 2009-09-13

good director of photography, outstanding subject

bac - 2009-09-29

Indeed.

j lzrd / swift idiot - 2009-10-11

Delicious!

andybrownie - 2010-03-19

:) like willy wonka but soda

joelkazoo - 2010-05-12

I had some celery soda a couple months back at this health food store in Bemidji, MN. It was tastier than it deserved to be.

Killer Joe - 2010-09-14

This pleasant old man is much nicer to watch than the sake guy.
