The Sega Master System was my first console, I will forever be loyal and sympathetic to Sega.

Man, Devil, God, ?, Dreamcast.

That controller was really Goddamn stupid. I have to imagine that played a role as well.
Also, let's not forget pirating games, the number one stated reason by Dreamcast fanboys everywhere for the system's collapse.

This system was at least 5 years ahead of its time.

Lesson learned: always make up some bullshit story about missile guidance systems.

Man, that controller was fucking huge.
FUN FACT: For the fiscal year ending 2000, Sega was the least profitable company in Japan. The runner up was a company which, like Abraham Lincoln, literally sold poison milk to schoolchildren. That's not a joke. This actually happened. These guys somehow managed to send tainted milk to Japanese public schools, resulting in tons of violently ill little kids. And that company was still more profitable than Sega.

I still feel that the Dreamcast's graphics looked better than the PS2's. It couldn't push as many polygons but it could do a lot more with the polygons it did push, and they were a lot cleaner and sharper. The PS2 just looks like mud.
Unfortunately, it was a system which had a few strong titles (mostly from Sega and Namco) and a hell of a lot of shit.

Emcee - 2009-09-09 Really? I would say the Dreamcast, for its year and half/two years of service, had a denser library of great games than most systems would in the same amount of time (or more if you're the Nintendo Gamecube).
|
Riskbreaker - 2009-09-09 The dreamcast has more good games today than most of the current gen consoles. It also has, to this day, the best versions of games like Crazy Taxi, Grandia 2 and Marvel vs Capcom 2.

Katana wasn't as cool as DOLPHIN

Sega's always had a strike against it, even in Japan. The fact that it was co-founded by an American matters to some people.
That scene in Big Man Japan wasn't a coincidence.

I saw one of these at a garage sale the other day. Was it a mistake not to have bought it?

the controller had a lcd vid screen in it which functioned in some games....I think the football game on the DC was the best version of its kind until this years Madden 10. Best Franchise Mode, even now.
I still remember getting that stupid Seaman game (huh huh I said semen) and yelling at my onscreen pet via the controller microphone drunk at like 3 am.
Some great games on that system for sure.

I have 3 Dreamcasts right now. I dunno it just happened.
The buttons and the analog stick on the controller were very good, and it was actually pretty comfortable even though you felt like you were going to break it. The fact that it had 4 controllers and a built in modem sort of made it for me. The games were also generally good.
I feel like SEGA killed the Deamcast, not the other way around. In truth it was probably just akward timing and bad luck that did them both in.

Dreamcast had Tech Romancer. Tech Romancer was pretty good.
