CARDASSIANS... are ALL programmed... to talk, like, DICKS.

zatojones - 2009-09-28

Star Trek secret: all Cardasians are gay

Charles - 2009-09-28

Keeping Up With the Cardassians

Xenocide - 2009-09-28

CARDASSIANS... are ALL programmed...to like DICKS.

Shatner should be cast as King of the Cardassians.

saganaki - 2009-09-28

One of the things I enjoyed about DS9 is that it showed that maybe 24th-century humanity wasn't quite as awesome as TNG would have suggested.

mouser - 2009-09-28

You could have guessed with Riker.

Fuck, DS9 was horrible.

Meerkat - 2009-09-28

The best thing about DS9 is how they could keep root beer in an uncovered pitcher without it going flat.

THE WONDERS OF FUTURE TECHNOLOGY!!1!11!!

StanleyPain - 2009-09-28

I'm sure it's explained on no less than 5 wikipedia entires, 2 memory alpha entries, and somewhere in a "technology of star trek" book.

Camonk - 2009-09-28

How does this show that the Federation isn't great? These two guys are from weirdo races that, I think, hate the Federation. But they're basically saying THEY'RE OUR ONLY HOPE.

The best thing about DS9 for me was realizing in the first two weeks that it was a boring rip off of Babylon 5 and not bothering. It can't even suck in an entertaining way.

Rodents of Unusual Size - 2009-09-28

They show it in other episodes, but the Federation has DARK SECRETS with Section 51, a TOP SECRET police force that basically fucks up anyone that posed even a marginal threat. Assassinations, spies, and all sorts of frivolity ensued.

There were also a lot of "BOY EARTH SUCKED A DICK" time travel episodes, one of which takes place in 2015, where San Francisco has taken all of the homeless or poor people and imprisoned them in a concentration ghetto.

sosage - 2009-09-29

...or that episode in TNG with the worm things possessing the high echelons of command...and Riker and Pikard totally blow that dudes head off like BWAAFOOOOOOSSHHHH KASPLAT BLAP BLAP UGH! Then the thing was living in his chest cavity and they're like, "full beam" SHOOOOOOOOOOSH BRAAAAAANG KABLOOSPLASH SQUISH SPLISH SPLOSH

Redlof - 2009-09-28

We know everything about Earth... baseball, root beer, darts, atom bombs...

Camonk - 2009-09-28

Sooooo... three minutes to get to a hamhanded simile in favor of the good guys even though both these guys hate the good guys? I can see why people like this show.

Smellvin - 2009-09-28

The only good character on that show was Morn.

garcet71283 - 2009-09-29

All the costumed characters were good. Characters' horribleness in this show was proportionate to the amount of makeup they wore.

garcet71283 - 2009-09-29

erm...inversely proportionate

thebaronsdoctor - 2009-09-28

And thus the later Star Trek series continue in their noble quest to reduce every alien species into a single, unified personality quirk shared by all its members

Ferengi are all profit, all the time
Cardasians are all gay all the time

IrishWhiskey - 2009-09-28

By the end of DS9, a Rom-led Ferengi were embracing philanthropy, and there were noble Cardassian heroes fighting for liberty. And there were dissenting groups on both sides that OW!

Sorry, that's my nerd buzzer going off. I had it installed so as to try and function in normal society. Sort of like when Lwaxanna tried teaching Worf to OW!!

Sprinkles - 2009-09-28

5 for your comment IrishWhiskey, it made me giggle.

Cheese - 2009-09-28

The Higher The Fewer!

Xenocide - 2009-09-28

Which is different from the older Trek shows how exactly?

thebaronsdoctor - 2009-09-28

Well you see...

...I got nothing.

Man but Star Trek was lazy when it came to alien creation

Rodents of Unusual Size - 2009-09-28

Armin Shimmerman was the best actor on this show by leaps and bounds. Rene Auberjonois had his moments. Also, the guy who plays Garak, along with Louise Fletcher, and Jeffrey Combs were all brilliant. The leads were always kind of dull in comparison.

Nikon - 2010-03-30

Agreed. Sisko is my favorite starfleet captain even though I wish they had found someone other than Brooks to play him.

StanleyPain - 2009-09-28

DS9 was entertaining until all that Dominion bullshit they tacked on assuming they could steal away some of the Babylon 5 audience.

Bort - 2011-01-18

Yes, that same "Dominion" that was featured in stories before the first episode of B5 even aired. Because only a genius like JMS could come up with an idea like, if you suddenly have the ability to travel to a remote part of inhabited space, you might come into conflict with someone there.

Conflict as a part of storytelling ... what will JMS think of next? Well, maybe this:

Sphinx - 2011-03-25

If anything Garak would be bi- since he had the hots for Du'Kats daughter. Du'Kat of course was Garak's biggest enemy and--- OW I borrowed Irish's buzzer.. That thing hurts

The Mothership - 2023-02-15

I also like root beer.
