I don't think 'baggy' even fully describes it.

I grew up not too far from the Corvette Museum in Bowling Green KY. They take those cars quite seriously there, and to see Top Gear both trash and praise it is humbling and amusing.

This is not the current corvette by a long shot. This is the older model c6 package. The actual racing version was the Z06 package and to pit the C against the 911 is disingenuous at best.
Of course now we have the ZR1 which at 650 some odd HP and about grand, competes with 2 and 3 hundred thousand dollar sports cars. It set a record on the Nurburgring.
In a more recent clip Top Gear came to the US to review the ZR1 along with the Charger and the CTS-V and ended up loving all three of them.

Big Beef Burritos Supreme - 2009-10-04 To be fair, they only pitted it against the 911 C2, where as the C2S has more like the power of a Corvette. Had they used a C4S, your criticism would be justified.

So these guys are just professional dicks or what?
Also... the evo viii is faster than a corvette?

dododge - 2009-10-04 Bear in mind that track layout can be a major factor in how cars compare.
For example in SCCA autocross -- which normally uses a very twisty layout with few if any long straights -- the Lotus Elise is competitive with the Z06 Vette. If you were to put those same cars on a large circuit with lots of straights, the Z06 would probably trounce the Lotus every time.

I don't care much for the car, but calling the Corvette's rear suspension a leaf spring is like calling a DI turbo-diesel a simple 4-cycle. Just look at the spare part.
The C5 was a k car made for American public roads (few curves). Its fine, if overpowered for most drivers, at that. Its not a race car, and never was.
