I just watched this the other day hoping it was the new "V". For a few episodes I was convinced they were purposely using old cameras and equipment in order to achieve some sort of stylistic atmosphere. Then this happened.
The part I remember is how when that reptile dude impregnificated that chick I thought "how the hell is that even possible" and then I realized that I had wasted the first ten years of my life reading science fiction novels and watching Star Trek.
Having just rewatched the first two miniseries, allow me to correct you -- she also bites the head off of a bird.
The mouse-consuming was done by a low level, dumber-than-the-Robert-Englund-character alien who was immediately chastised by the father of the lizard puppet baby for eating in front of the humans.
One other thing I remember is when some plant had an explosion and I think there was a big liquid nitrogen leak... one of the employees came running out holding onto his arm like he was hurt, and accidentally ran into something, shattering his arm like glass. I remember that being epic when I was a kid.
I remember this scene and the scene where the granpa compares the visitor invasion to the holocaust, because that scene had the most over the top soupy-stringed cliche' accompaniment music in television history. The music literally made the scene embarrassing to watch.
