Wow, just wow. If this was some kid plagiarizing as CG practice at home, that would be one thing, but this, this is being presented as original, isn't it?
But.. what's the point? This is like tracing and coloring a comic book and calling it your own. Why not just save the effort and replace your name with the artists on the cover? Its not any less unethical or illegal.
Are we so sure this isn't just an early build of the final short?
It kind of seems like that at first, but they don't usually bother to render those early rough animations with all the lighting and textures though
Time Travel Mishap
Yeah this appears to be 100% complete. If this was pixars i would see no reason they would go back and do it over with slight differences. Like the lizard instead of a mouse trap. Making a small change like that would take a lot of time. And not really make a lot of difference to the actual story.
Not to mention the spoken Chinese Mandarin in the end, which kinda gives away the Pixar had zero to do with this and rather was probably used to sell something like poisonous childrens hat cleaners in China. I recall a classmate making a presentation about Chinese laws on intellectual property and the lack of laws thereof, although this may draw an international lawsuit, but not before the damage is done.
ITS NOT AN EARLY VERSION!
its a chinese rip-off, plain and simple
So why is no one rating this??
5 for evil
Someone on Cartoon Brew pointed to a video showing them side-by-side, and the timing is completely exact, but of course the animation is so poorly-done that there is still a world of difference between them, even ignoring the terrible models.

It goes to show how little subtleties in acting and animation can make all the difference.
Also, this is satan.
I can't believe they took the time to do this instead of just something else.
