I saw the Deep Throat soundtrack in a record store yesterday, and I hoped this video could help me find out what kind of music the soundtrack has.
I'm afraid the best music is in the cut out parts.

I was looking on Google to see if anyone posted a video the theme song, here's something better. The first 22 minutes of the film including the opening credits. You may be able to find the rest of it here, I didn't look. The credits music is not bad, a fairly pleasant jam with an organ, a guitar and drums, a jazz funk theme. The organist inexplicably throws in a little Beethoven.

As I recall, the sound track to "Deep Throat" contains some truly dreadful original songs, but I seem to remember there's also a nice little tune called (I guess) "Love is Strange".
Incidentally, the documentary "Inside Deep Throat" is highly recommended.

Glenn or Glennda - 2009-12-11 Not in EVERY way! Green Door is certainly superior *artistically* to 99.99 per cent of all porn, but I wouldn't try to jerk off to it. It's essentially one long group sex scene. It takes you an hour to get to the cum shot, and then it's a slow motion, lab processed, psychedelic cum shot with faux gregorian chanting on the sound track. It reminded me of the climax of "2001". It was audacious, poetic, and definitely erotic, but it wasn't for wanking.
Wanking is a big thing in porn, especially now that we don't watch porn in theaters any more. This wasn't for wanking. This was more for smoking a lot of weed and seeing with your friends, or your girlfriend if you were lucky enough to have one who would go with you. (My first gf was actually a projectionist in a porn theater. Sigh.)

Deep Throat was popular because it came out at the right time. Almost no one in the world had ever seen sex on film, and almost everybody in the world wanted to see Sex on film. This film was notably a little better than most films of the time.
What carried it over the top was the gimmick. Her clit is located in her throat. Sure, it's moronic, but it's just clinical enough that it can be summed up in an article in the New York Times, or Newsweek, and it points to Linda's special talent. It's not terribly sexy or sensual IMO, but once you've heard about it, you want to see it. At least, if this is the 1970s, and you've never seen people fucking on film before.

I've thought of doing exactly this with "The Jade Pussycat", starring John Holmes and Georgina Spelvin. It's a porno detective movie based on "The Maltese Falcon". Between the sex scenes, there's a lot of really bad plot that's revealed in bad dialog that is delivered by bad actors, and they're all earnestly trying to ape the classic NOIR style. One guy tries WAY too hard to be Sidney Greenstreet. A compilation of the non-sex scenes would be delicious.
Think I'll get on that.

The first (and only) time I ever checked out a hotel's "porn-on-demand" feature, it was this same movie. Not the porno-- this one here, about 10 min long with all the good bits cut out.
Sort of soured me on the whole ordering a porn flick thing.
