The words "douchebag" is the only evidence, albeit anecdotal, of the actual existence of the Ah-Ha Principle. I was in fourth grade, walking to school and the word just suddenly dawned on me. It took a year for my family to catch up to daily usage.
Each successive Police Academy movie got worse. I watched only 15 minutes of Police Academy 6 and I was immediately stricken with Ebola. Police Academy movies beyond 6 are not even listed on IMDB, as watching them prompts people toward suicide.
"douchebag" is a wonderful insult, but I make it a point not to overuse it. I just reserve it for those assholes who treat women like dirt, spray on a disgusting fake orange tan and seal it on with a whole can of Axe while taking their entire line of clothes and their entire repertoire of cues from Keys to the VIP and those assclown Gotti boys.
For your average generic idiot, "snapperhead" works great.
