This clip validates my decision to not purchase the christmas dvd. I just knew it would be like this. "Sunny" started out as a pretty damn funny show, about believably idiotic and self-absorbed people who got into seinfeldian hijinx as a result of their flawed personalities. The episode where Dee marries Frank as a plot to get money is a perfect example of this.
But now all the characters are such extreme versions of themselves, Charlie in particular, that the show ceases to be at all believable and thus not funny. The Gang is responsible for kidnapping people, destroying an innocent family's home, and now killing(?) a santa in the mall. It's just gotten way too crazy to be that funny to me anymore. It has its moments, sure, but I think they should scale back on the wacky and focus more on plot if they want to stick around.

drcrypt - 2010-01-03 For what it's worth, I agree with you. The problem is the characters have become too amoral. What characterized the show at first was a sort of group amorality, where no character was ever smart enough to question what another character was saying, so one initial stupid suggestion would just pile out of control through endless group re-affirmation. There's still some of that in the show, but now, all the characters are just monsters. The show's still worth watching, but season 3 was the last truly great season.
