My mom's family is essentially a set of characters from a John Irving novel - scientists, artists, most of them Ph.Ds. Most of them intentionally have very little awareness of pop culture of the past fifty years, but they're all big fans of the Banana Splits.

I watched this show as a kid (that's how old I am) and if for some reason I wasn't allowed to watch it, I'd scream like I was on fire till my Mom gave me something to scream about. THAT's how kick-ass this show was to a five year old.
