Crabs are my absolute favorite of God's horrible beasties. You can keep your invertebrates! Crustaceans for me!

In "Kon Tikii" Thor Heiderall said that in the middle of the Pacific, a little 3 inch crab climbed on board and joined the crew. It came out during meals and they fed it, it stuffed food into its little mouth with its claws. Crabs are cute.

Not enough stars for the way they casually roll the bubbles behind them. "Nom nom nom nom nom nom NEXT!"
Casual Tea Party
Especially at 0:34 where the crab rolls aside his ball before he teleports on his crab enemy.

Those are birds, dude.

Yeah, that's not music. Just tiny, TINY birds.

One morning, on the beaches of Langkawi, I noticed fractal-like patterns in the sand. At first I thought it was caused by an impression of seaweed, but upon closer inspection, the patterns were convex, not concave - in fact - the patterns were hundreds of tiny little spheres of sand. There was always at least one clear path to a hole in the sand. If I stayed still long enough, eventually these tiny little crabs - about the size of a fingernail - climbed out of the holes and began their work.

The crabs are so small, that it is actually fairly difficult to observe what they're doing with the naked eye. This seemed like a good opportunity to try capturing video with my macro lens. I didn't have a tripod, so I found a piece of driftwood and rested the camera on it, laying down prone behind it.
I'd never personally seen anything like it before. These are Sand Bubbler Crabs and they're sifting through huge amounts of sand in search of detritus. The waste sand builds on their head and they kick off the ball before they can't see over it.

The footage was interesting, but the camera audio was not. Sometimes I'd hear some interesting insect noises and pull out my iPod to record it. I brought these recordings home and re-created the sounds on my modular. The other option I seriously considered was overdubbing "OM NOM NOM NOM OM NOM NOM NOM NOM" at various pitches and editing that in.

Caminante Nocturno
I liked the music.

Ok, so what am I looking at here? Bubbles made out of sand? I didn't know you could do that.
Camonk
That's because you're ignorant and stupid.

poorwill
hey fuck you

Caminante Nocturno
Stop fighting in front of the crabs!

Gojira1000
They are balls of sand. Solid. Not actually bubbles.

HankFinch
Cool, is this arbitrary hatred day?
Fuck your balls of sand and fuck you Gojira, all one thousand of you. And I don't give a shit anyway cus all this bubble shit is for crybabies and faggots.

Camonk
When did it stop being arbitrary hatred day every goddamned day around here?

HankFinch
Oh, did you almost get the joke? That's adorable.

poorwill
'Get jokes' day is tomorrow, cuntflaps.

HankFinch
Cuntflaps?!
oh yeah I forgot about that.

You're a jerk.

dead_cat
You can't do that because you have an inferior, mammalian jaw.

I consider all crustaceans to be my friends. I will not, however, refrain from eating them. In return, I will not get angry should one start eating me.

We should all be buried at sea so the crabs can eat us. My two cents.
