That doesn't seem to really capture the spirit of the thing, does it?

kingofthenothing - 2010-02-19

You know how some things are wrong but feel right? This isn't one of those things.

CharlesSmith - 2010-02-19

Wow, I hate to have to explain to 13-year-old me why I am disgusted by something with the name Monty Python on it. Eric Idle should not inspire this kind of disdain.

CharlesSmith - 2010-02-19

I'd hate.

Although I do hate explaining things to my past self.

poorwill - 2010-02-19

Eric Idle was always the worst Python. Seemed like he was never in on the joke.

HarrietTubmanPI - 2010-02-19

I'm convinced this has to be some elaborate joke.

memedumpster - 2010-02-19

How shall we fuck off, Eric Idle?

StanleyPain - 2010-02-19

The thing about Idle, and you have to read stuff by the other Pythons to get all the details, is that while he was smart and funny and loved Python, he also wanted to be very successful and he felt that whenever the troupe adhered to a lot of standards or ethics to keep their work from getting cheapened or lousy, he felt it was pointless if there was no financial gain. Idle wanted to be a rockstar comedian, which is why he was the one through whom so many supporters came for them, like Pink Floyd, Led Zeppelin, Moby Grape, etc.
So, the other Pythons kind of think this shit is stupid, but they forgive him for it because he's Eric fucking Idle.

Interesting

oogaBooga - 2010-02-19

Eric idle, trying to squeeze every last little drop out of his dwindling nerdfame. Can't say I blame him, but he could have chosen something _original_.

Like having people pay him to answer stupid youtube comments. You know there's a market for that.

boner - 2010-02-19

Life of Brian somehow became mainstream 30 years after being picketed, banned and the Pythons were concerned about possible arrest for breaking blasphemy laws.

Potrod - 2010-02-20

Why are we 5-starring this when it's awful but not in an entertaining way?

Spamalot was cringe-inducingly terrible as well, and this is coming from someone who will defend Monty Python pretty far. I still like Eric Idle more than Terry Jones, though.

Pillager - 2011-01-29

Give him a break.

He's earned the right to make a good living after all the laughs he's given us over the years.
