Hooper_X It's great, because the crash test people were straight up about it. "Look, if you want a car that gets high gas mileage, drive a fucking Prius. This thing is a rollcage with an engine."
seriouslyuguys Too bad the sticker price on a Prius is nearly double that of a Fortwo.
godot The USA distributors aren't importing the high-efficiency SmartCars. Averaged city/highway mpg (converted from Imp gallons):
Diesel - 69.2 mpg
Micro-Hybrid - 53.4 mpg
For highway mpg, they're really bumping up against drag, which longer front/real cowls would help. Myself, I'm hoping the 75+ mpg Persu Hybrid tilting trike project survives the depression and becomes a reality. Its sort of an ideal solo commuter/tourer/peacock tail vehicle.
Ursa_minor These are impressive little cars, but if you're buying one based on gas mileage alone, then you aren't doing your homework.
glasseye For its size and weight the Fortwo does very well
Five stars for great engineering.
kingarthur By driving one of these in the rural South (aka TRUCK AND SUV CARNAGE LAND) you are taking your life in your own hands.
