Hooper_X - 2010-02-20 It's great, because the crash test people were straight up about it. "Look, if you want a car that gets high gas mileage, drive a fucking Prius. This thing is a rollcage with an engine."
seriouslyuguys - 2010-02-20 Too bad the sticker price on a Prius is nearly double that of a Fortwo.
godot - 2010-02-21 The USA distributors aren't importing the high-efficiency SmartCars. Averaged city/highway mpg (converted from Imp gallons):
Diesel - 69.2 mpg
Micro-Hybrid - 53.4 mpg
For highway mpg, they're really bumping up against drag, which longer front/real cowls would help. Myself, I'm hoping the 75+ mpg Persu Hybrid tilting trike project survives the depression and becomes a reality. Its sort of an ideal solo commuter/tourer/peacock tail vehicle.
Ursa_minor - 2010-02-20 These are impressive little cars, but if you're buying one based on gas mileage alone, then you aren't doing your homework.
glasseye - 2010-02-20 For its size and weight the Fortwo does very well
Five stars for great engineering.
kingarthur - 2010-02-20 By driving one of these in the rural South (aka TRUCK AND SUV CARNAGE LAND) you are taking your life in your own hands.
