The Republican party has just become this scattered, dysfunctional family, with Uncle Tom talking about how great Jim Crow was and Aunt Orly thinking the United States accidentally elected a foreign-born president. And CPAC and the Tea Parties and the Minutemen Project, etc... nobody wants to call out the other groups for being batshit. I think the one guy they're not willing to pretend to like for the sake of a unified front is Michael Steele.

pastorofmuppets You're reading it backwards. Their approach to shrinking the government was creating the DHS. Their approach to balancing the budget involved 2 billion in tax cuts and a 700 billion war with Iraq.
So when they say "we don't care about banning gay marriage" I can only assume they are talking about forcing gays to "recant," Inquisition-style.
