"Irregardless" uses "ir" in the same way that "inflammable" uses "in." The prefixes are etymologically related. It is a perfectly cromulent word at this point.

Oh, also don't forget "irradiated" and "irrigate" and the like. It seems to be used as a superlative just as much as a negative.

In general it's dumb to use those sorts of things around people old enough to remember that the usage didn't exist before AOL.

Also: not the same as inflammable. Inflame is a word, irregard isn't. (Inflammable is by far the exception that proves the rule.)
