Although definitely offensive, the remark in itself isn't racist. He's complaining about a practice, not about a racial or ethnic identity. Its also ironic that this gets such a reaction, but criticizing the decision to drop the bomb, or the firebombing of civilian cities in Japan, is often a taboo subject in classrooms and politics.
