Hollywood should take some lessons from North Korea.

revdrew - 2010-04-14

I was fully expecting ONN to be one of the tags when I clicked on this.

FABIO - 2010-04-14

A comedy show that has to tell you that it's funny.

North Korea has its very own TBS.

Enjoy - 2010-04-14

Those mics are 00 each.

Rodents of Unusual Size - 2010-04-14

Do you have a problem with that? The glorious state knows exactly how much money should be spent for the people to be entertained. If you have a PROBLEM with that maybe you are eating TOO MANY beans, Mr. Likestocomplain.

hornung - 2010-04-14

srs bns

Explodotron - 2010-04-14

Comedy Protip: Don't focus on the actual beans, but on the effects they have on the gastrointestinal tract.

MrBuddy - 2010-04-14

They can't. Someone already thought of that and they have a rule expressly forbidding fart jokes when talking about beans. I'm not kidding.

kwash - 2010-04-14

It mostly stems from them expressly forbidding farting.

boner - 2010-04-14

BEES?

Camonk - 2010-04-14

boner's not on board.

Reipuman - 2010-04-14

Bees would be funny.

Desidiosus - 2010-04-14

The dogs with beans in their mouths and when they bark they shoot beans at you?

Yeah, that would be funny.

Charles - 2010-04-14

Oh no! Not the Beans!! NOT THE BEANS! AAAGGGHHHH NOT THE FACE!!!!

chumbucket - 2010-04-14

not sure if I feel better knowing KJI has a sense of humor or scared to death

RomancingTrain - 2010-04-14

Kim Yong Chuckles would be a good name for a comedian

voodoo_pork - 2010-04-14

^ This. And me thinking the EXACT same thing. The PoE hivemind strikes again.

Rodents of Unusual Size - 2010-04-14

At first I thought that was a stage name...I thought, "oh how nice, the North Korean man became a clown when he moved, and now he brings the laughter of DEMOCRACY. In your FACE, dictatorship!"

It could be like the Korean To Be or Not to Be.

APE_GOD - 2010-04-14

Goddammit.

I thought his name was Kim Yong Chuckles too :(

klingerbgoode - 2010-04-15

me too.

Comeuppance - 2010-04-14

They re-use the same situations over and over, and aren't funny?
So, what, it's like Mad TV?

K. Brass - 2010-04-14

I say, Sister Comrade. Did you hear about the southern dissident who crossed the 38th parallel?

No, I didn't, Brother Comrade. Why did the southern dissident cross the 38th parallel?

Because, Sister Comrade, the Great General has heaven's mandate to rule and will lead the Korean people to unification and glory under his leadership!

Ho ho ho ho ho!

kingofthenothing - 2010-04-14

Do you know why beans grow so well?

I don't know, I heard it has something to do with nitrogen-

No! It's because Kim Jong Il has blessed the beans with his Divine Magic!

Oh! That makes more sense! Ha ha ha!

Lurchi - 2010-04-14

Try showing a clip with subtitles.

Fucking propaganda.

pastorofmuppets - 2010-04-14

Well obviously it's not going to be funny if you start explaining the jokes. Can the dissident guy, I want to see more of Korean Bob Hope.

Rodents of Unusual Size - 2010-04-14

Korean Lucille Ball has had her moments, you can be sure.

Hooker - 2010-04-14

I love how when you translate something from Japanese or Korean or whatever, it completely loses any sense of being profound that it may have once had.

THA SUGAH RAIN - 2010-04-14

Yeah dude, no one thinks the works of Confucius or Buddha are profound at all.

RomancingTrain - 2010-04-14

Neither of those are Korean or Japanese.

Urkel Forever - 2010-04-14

They might fall under "whatever" though.

The Townleybomb - 2010-04-14

God dammit, I want to see unfunny comedy, not people talking about the fact that unfunny comedy exists!

StanleyPain - 2010-04-14

Wait, a North Korean, government produced television show in one of the most oppressive countries in the world has....AN ULTERIOR MOTIVE OF PROPAGANDA BEHIND IT???

Shit, send that in to High Times, man!

Timothy A. Bear - 2010-04-14

Your lies are ridiculous and this is really my hair.

Ageusiatic - 2010-04-14

Nobody here, or in the clip gets it. They're unfunny, but they're doing so ironically, like Neil Hamburger. It's a really brilliant show.

memedumpster - 2010-04-14

They have their own Fox News!

VoilaIntruder - 2010-04-14

There it's just called "TV."

VoilaIntruder - 2010-04-14

This page is the sixth result on Google for "It's So Funny North Korea" That in no way helps me find an episode to watch. I've traveled in a circle.

APE_GOD - 2010-04-14

No subtitles really is an unfortunate, ironic oversight here.

The piece is making fun of a show for having to tell its viewers that it is a comedy by telling the viewers this is so instead of actually showing the show in context, with subtitles.

nemeses9 - 2010-04-14

Don't feel bad North Korea; it's still better than Mind of Mencia.

frau_eva - 2010-05-12

Here are all my stars. You deserve it.

KnowFuture - 2010-04-14

North Korean TV critics say: "It's no more than a platform for government propaganda! But...we're OK with that if you are....right?...."
