I can't believe this is still sitting on the shelf in a Netflix envelope.
I'm watching this today, fuck everything else.
Younger people might not realize how bizarre Dark Star was when it was in theaters in 1974. There were outraged citizens organizing a few scattered boycotts and pickets---mostly in redneck small towns.
At the time there was very little science fiction in movie theaters, and an SF movie that was full of bizarre black comedy really disturbed a lot of people....the usual objection was the tired old "my kids watched it and how dare you make such a cynical nasty un-Christian film!"
True story: watch the computer displays for "FUCK YOU HARRIS". That was the name of the distributor.

Nothing I could say could make this any more perfect.

Youtube suggested this to me because I watched the video of Godzilla's flying kick. So that feature is sometimes awesomely correct.

I've seen this stoned, by myself, twice.
I admit that.

For those unaware, Sgt. Pinback is played by the late Dan O'Bannon, screenwriter for Alien, Return of the Living Dead, Total Recall, and this film.

Five stars for Dark Star.

This movie is pretty much perfect.

How long has it been since I've seen this movie?
It has been too long since I have seen this movie.

I hope this was inspired by the watermelon monster from Drunken Wu Tang.
If i remember well this movie is way older.
