Don't worry too much about the owl, guys.
The guy is restraining him properly and gently. Even the beak restraint was done well. It's true that the owl doesn't think it's awesome, but birds never like to be restrained. My guess is he's showing some anatomy points to students of some kind because the owl had to be restrained for a procedure anyway. You take whatever opportunities you can get to look at bird anatomy up close because restraint isn't something you do all the time.
And that is the sound barn owls always make. They're very "talky" and scream like that under any and all circumstances, whether they're pissed at you or trying to seduce you or asking for food. I know it sounds like he's being tortured, but he's just making barn owl noises.
Honestly, I didn't see anything improper or inhumane in how this owl was handled and I'd be the first person to shit myself and go on a murderous rampage if somebody hurt a raptor.
