I say declare all of BPs assets property of the state immediately and if they complain, arrest any BP employees on American soil.

It's really simple if you aren't a little bitch that sucks the assholes of oil executives.
Old_Zircon
Yeah, but the oil industry is more powerful than most sovereign nations, if you're in government 9on a national scale you're a little bitch that sucks the assholes of oil executives, whether you like it or not.

heyitslozeau
Wow rodents! I guess nobody in positions of power has thought of that! DONT be asshole suckers. Well GOLEEEEE!

craptacular
rous, your comment sounds like it came from a 14-year-old kid who doesn't know any better.

cognitivedissonance
Let's bomb Mecca, too. That'll solve the problem.

It's Edward Odama! He's come to save us!

Out of respect for BP's wishes, I will not be watching this.

Five for the film and for the conservative voice in the YouTube comments diligently fighting on to ensure that we all die stupid.

This whole B fucking P thing has become my new emblematic example for my "big business is way worse for us than big government."

I stole parts of that argument from Noam Chomsky; it's one of two things things he's ever said that I agree with.

memedumpster
So long as you don't insist that language is innate, I will still love you. You should check out The World is Flat. Ultimate globalization multinationalism evangelical rhetoric spew written by a guy so starry eyed about it he doesn't realize it's the evilest shit ever.

Camonk
Okay. Full disclosure.

I hate Chomsky's linguistics, pretty much utterly. The other thing he's said that I agree with is that English orthography is pretty much ideal.

But I hate formalism. I looooooathe it. It's a backward, lazy, self-righteous way to approach the study of language which I, and many functionalist come close to equating with the study of mind and, therefore, consider it one of the most important things to study in all of human endeavor.

Look, I'm really drunk. But I hate Chomsky's linguistics and I definitely don't think there's a mystical innate linguistic structure. I'm sorry to everybody else who doesn't give a shit about this. But not that sorry.

memedumpster
I hate that you can't read a book on Semiotics these days without having Chomsky balls rubbed in your face. It's like he set out one day to explain why all the aliens in Star Trek speak English.

Architeuthis Tux
I've long found it fascinating that many of the political evils that Chomsky decries are evils that he himself engages in quite regularly in academic spheres.

It amazes me that he's got the laconic, affectless stones to burble and fart about manufactured consent from atop the throne in his Chomsky Is Right Because Chomsky Is Chomsky citadel of ontology.

mashedtater
oh you poor people. i think ya'll know as well as i do that this spill is going to be devastating for years to come, maybe forever. you know in your hearts that no matter what, the gulf is changed for good and your way of life is going to have to change with it.

kingarthur
It's over for us down here. What little pieces of our economy that Katrina didn't kill off (fishing and the remnants of tourism) are going to be destroyed by this oil spill. And if that doesn't get you, wait ten years for the cancer and health problems to gut the survivors.

Fuck man, I haven't had steady employment since Katrina and can't get together enough money to move out of state. Top it off with Haley Barbour insisting "the Gulf is fine".

Republicans and big business got us to this point, and if Obama doesn't start not just kicking, but tearing ass asunder on this, I'm going to be adding him to the shit list.

James Woods
For you, kingarthur. For you.

Anaxagoras
The residents themselves said as much.

Just heartbreaking.
cognitivedissonance
Really? The Residents saying anything would be front page news.
