This is pretty great viewed in light of the foundational crisis. Where does math come from? Do we invent it, or do we discover it? What is the best way to axiomatically ground math, or is that even necessary?
GOD MADE IT ASSHOLE SAYS SO IN EZEKSHUA CH 79

pastorofmuppets - 2010-07-11 ripped off heyitslozeau's tone and don't regret it.

Document - 2010-07-12 cognitivedissonance: It's seriously just a matter of time. The politicization of "secularization" as an independent social value has already begun in America.
Like Martin said in his Revised General Theory on Secularization, traditionally Protestant and Catholic countries are responding to secularization in different ways - Protestantism is clinging to (and evidently fighting for) its long historical presence in the State - from the Church of England to the Fellowship House - whereas Catholicism, generally considered a transnationalist faith since the mediatization, isn't affected by the dismantling of religious influence in the State structure because it has absolutely nothing invested in it.
Essentially, the trajectories of Secularization and Religiousness aren't aligned. But what we're seeing in America now is a really uniquely Protestant event: as mathematics has become indelibly connected to secularization, and secularization MUST be fought, then mathematics has to be a) disregarded or b) re-examined through an imposed lens of religious thought. This isn't a bunch of classroom Christians using calculators to prove that Noah's Ark existed; this is a bunch of Christians re-affirming the absolute necessity of Noah's Ark in the function of the classroom.
So yeah, we're almost definitely going to see neo-Luddism. Or rather, we'll see Abecadarians - the happily, willfully and, most importantly, divinely ignorant.

Syd Midnight - 2010-07-18 People think we left the Dark Ages centuries ago, but Dark Ages are the default state of humanity. We are perpetually on the verge of burning witches and sacrificing animals, and there's always going to be someone running for congress on that platform.

Even though she said math isn't neutral (it's neutral evil HYUK HYUK), I still kind of expected her methods of teaching math from a biblical perspective to be "Ezemiah had four figs and Jezekabel had twelve how many figs did they deny the harlot?"

1 + 1 = 2
1 + 1 + 1 = 1
I'm a dick.

pastorofmuppets - 2010-07-12 Hey now. 1 + 1 + 1 = 4. There are two pairs of 1s. 2 + 2 = 4. Looks like SOMEONE didn't go to Sunday school!

Every act of sin and hate is a -1.

And remember, according to the bible (1 Kings 7:23) the biblical value of π is exactly 3!

I didn't know it was possible to make 1+1=2 so fucking confusing. I look forward to the next video about learning to spell "cat" biblically and how its totally a war on Satan.
