Khan Academy is easily one of the best sites on the internet. Seriously, go there and tell me different when your jaded ass gets back.

Dicknuts - 2010-07-18

Hmm, maybe I'll give learning math properly a shot.

Aelric - 2010-07-18

I see what you did there.

Dicknuts - 2010-07-18

i'm actually serious :(

Where's the creation science section? This website is bullshit!

http://www.youtube.com/user/khanacademy - and if you want some diversity,

http://www.youtube.com/user/yourteachermathhelp
http://www.youtube.com/user/funwithmath
http://www.youtube.com/user/eHow (they have a little bit of everything, some of which can be annoying - but they have math!)
http://www.youtube.com/user/LearningUpgrade
http://www.youtube.com/user/teachertubemath
http://www.youtube.com/user/themathworld
http://www.youtube.com/user/brmarzock22
http://www.youtube.com/user/xoaxdotnet
http://www.youtube.com/user/videomathtutor
http://www.youtube.com/user/themathmaster

and there's a lot more - just look up 'learning math' or whatever and you'll get more results than you need, and if you want to learn more, there's stuff like http://www.youtube.com/edu for University videos, and www.youtube.com/mit for MIT's Open Courseware, for all the crazy stuff you'll want to learn so you can tell Morgan Freeman he doesn't know what he's talking about.

I'm not going to harshly judge people for not knowing some particular subject - these days, anybody can learn anything if they have good internet access, and we all know there are no real 'know-it-alls', despite however much your Grandma thought she was the pinnacle of knowledge with her ancient education and years of doing crossword puzzles. Fucking bitch. Anyway, this isn't about your Grandma, or how much I hate her, but a message of hope, that you can do anything you put your mind to, probably, if you don't get bored.

Thanks for the links! I bought a bunch of math books a while back but have trouble really getting in to them. I want to design space ships but when confronting combustion physics I realized my English degree wasn't going to help me.

I like Khan because he knows so damn much.

Now that I actually need math I'm trying to relearn everything by doing problems. Art of Problem Solving is a good resource in that regard.

Also those little Dover paperbacks pack a lot of math for the buck.

This man is wonderful, and also, Megha Jain is the best name in the world.

Some of my students are taking an online intro to biology class and their useless professor doesn't give lectures; just a lesson plan, assignments, and readings from the book. I directed them to Khan's biology videos. I hope they're watching them, because he does a fantastic job.

If it's good enough for Bill Gates and his kids then it's good enough for me!
