So I'm at a Denny's in Kobe with my wife and her high school chum. The chum has a two year old daughter. We're eating decent food. No Moon Over My Hammy at Denny's in Japan.

Anyway, the chum is drinking a milk tea boba. Her daughter grabs the straw and starts sucking up one of those enormous boba tapioca balls. Baby killers. The straw is wide gauge to accommodate the girth of these things. They're like little throat plugs. Seriously.

Like a grizzly defending her cub, in an impressive display of heroic maternal instinct and lightning reflexes she zips her hand to the straw and PINCHES it, halting the flow just before the tot can choke to death on a gelatinous boba glob.

I don't even have a chance to applaud this amazing display before she barks at the child, "Those are MINE."



So yeah. Go boba.

I try to have at least one good laugh before leaving the door in the morning. Thanks for that.

I never thought of the boba tea death statistics.

Bobadeath would make a great band name (or a terrible one, depending on the genre).
