Given that it is Japanese, I cannot help but feel I am supposed to be masturbating to this...

They also made a remake that was aimed at Western audiences, which wasn't ever released here and therefore died. The Japanese found it to be a Bowdlerization and the Americans it was meant for never saw it.

Wasn't that Takashi Miike's "The Great Yokai War"? Because that made it to my video store and I live in Assfuck, Mississippi.

Is it good? Sounds like it could be a fun night.

kingarthur - 2010-08-06
It's fun, but it's basically Miike doing a film for kids. If you know that going in, it's a good time.

I'm not certain how I know this, but the monster in this clip is a Kasa-obake, a type of possessed umbrella spirit from Japanese folklore. It was believed that any object kept in family for over a century would become possessed by an impish demon and bring mischief to the household.

I want to keep one

They should make more of these.
TeenerTot - 2010-08-06
The monster's little interpretive dance speaks to me. It says "My existence is a miserable abomination. Please kill me."

Neat clip tho.
