DOS Word!! My grandpa didn't give that up until like five years ago. Because he hated not using delete and insert for copy and paste and REFUSED TO HAVE IT ANY OTHER WAY.

Rub it in Andy. You're job is so easy and satisfying that vacation is a hassle. Meanwhile, everybody else is desperately looking for any job, even one that you might possibly need a break from now and then.
dancingshadow
Didn't you watch the video? They work him to the point of exhaustion !

Bebido
I seriously laughed very loudly when I read your comment, dancingshadow. Probably because I've been drinking but god dammit I'm happy now, thank you.

Does his work consist of pecking out a few barely coherent opinions and observations in between naps, while interns scramble about getting the real work done? Yes, I think it might.
sosage
Either Andy is the oldest troll or he is not self aware.
Rape Van Winkle
I was thinking something like that.

pastorofmuppets
Fun is tiring for Andy Rooney, and I suspect that it always has been.
Aelric
Is it Rooney week here again already? It's the most wonderful time of year.

Why can't he be a miserable prick in the media during his vacation as well? What's stopping him?
fulakarp
I love the photo of him hating his family and having to put up with this goddamn picnic at 0:37

I like the bit where he finds out potato chips are .50, and he repeats the total incredulously, as if the clerk pulled a knife on him, "They were 5 cents back in my day!"

Erix
He's right, doing things is really horrible.

We can't bust heads like we used to. But we have our ways. One trick is to tell stories that don't go anywhere. Like the time I caught the ferry to Shelbyville. I needed a new heel for m'shoe. So I decided to go to Morganville, which is what they called Shelbyville in those days. So I tied an onion to my belt. Which was the style at the time. Now, to take the ferry cost a nickel, and in those days, nickels had pictures of bumblebees on 'em. Gimme five bees for a quarter, you'd say. Now where was I... oh yeah. The important thing was that I had an onion tied to my belt, which was the style at the time. You couldn't get white onions, because of the war. The only thing you could get was those big yellow ones...

I can only conclude that Mr. Rooney's entire body of work is an elaborate piece of performance art designed to make us reflect on the impermanence of our lives, and the slow yet inevitable deterioration of everything we have worked to achieve.

On second thought it's just a crazy old man ranting about vacation.

memedumpster
This is why the pod people failed to take over the world, instead being marginalized to small bits of media wherein they vent their confusion.
Senator_Unger
So, Andy goes on vacation with just Kleenex and a couple books?
mashedtater
what..is he doing in that car?
THA SUGAH RAIN
He's driving in circles so he can unpack his kleenex.

mashedtater
i like to think he is driving according to the way the road used to be zoned, because damnit don't you know back then was so much easier to get around?
