Robotic surgery exists; remote surgery is just that plus telecommunications, which also exists. The fact that we could set up a surgeon in Edinburgh to operate on a patient in New Zealand is impressive enough, whether or not we see a specific need to do so.

I've been in favor of not having to go to the city for your job for a long time, and wonder why we're so slow at getting there. There's a social component to a job, and not wanting to be at home all of the time though.
