Wretched Specter The people one-starring this suck. You don't have to be Marxist, Communist, revolutionary, or even really a liberal to benefit from an extensive run through Marx's line of descriptive thought.
Wretched Specter Even our resident capitalist pig dogs like Pentheus and Goofy Gorilla do it.
kingarthur At the very least, a thorough reading of Das Kapital should be available as an elective class in high school across the country. Bad enough we throw kids out there with no job skills or business training. It would do a lot for people to help them understand the system they're underneath.
Cena_mark If we gave kids jobs skills and business training there would be no pissed off losers spreading communism in America. Thanks to the teachers unions we have tons of unemployable losers bitter towards capitalism telling people on the internet to read Das Kapital.
Wretched Specter We don't give kids real job and business training in America because we exported all our real industry. Our education system reflects that. We are a service economy that gets by on trade laws that have been rigged (by a business elite) in our favor and foreign wage slavery.
Marx is one of the most important philosophers of the past two centuries and is almost as important as Adam Smith and David Ricardo in the realm of 19th century economics. You do not have to embrace any of his thought but I think you should be able to read at least something of his before being able to make blanket statements about him, regardless of the historical baggage that surrounds his name now. He's sort of like Nietzsche in that regard.
Shanghai Tippytap Hey, it's that prospectless underclass that bolsters the ranks of our military. If we started giving them options in life, who knows how much national defense would suffer?
Oh hi Mark, didn't see you there.
Cena_mark Bankcock Softshoe: I'm a college graduate. I have other choices. I just made the right choice.
Shanghai Tippytap Care to explain why you consider signing up to fight in a debt-inducing occupation "the right choice"?
memedumpster It seems that if you look at a soldier as a commodity, one would find most of its value in use value instead of exchange value, since you can't really sell off surplus soldiers (yet) to other governments. Compare this to a nuclear deterrent, which seems to have more exchange value than use value, since use destroys the system of labor which produces more, unlike soldiers who die to maintain the system which produced them.
All of that aside, I am proud of Cena for trusting Obama's foreign policy enough to turn over his life to its enforcement. You will be put to maximum use, then returned to us worn, busted, and proud.
