The very first time I ever experienced vicarious shame was on behalf of the Global announcer and his painfully awkward goofy-voiced shtick.
Global television had a very Canadian tendency to never rejuvenate their line-up (they were STILL showing Inspector Gadget well into the late 90s) because why bother? It's not like there's any competition in Canada!
Late 90s? I remember seeing Inspector Gadget on Global in the 2000s. Hell, he's on Teletoon Retro NOW. No post-1983 episodes, though. They're not Canadian.
Then again, COPS lasted a long time on Global. Aside from Ken Ryan voicing Bulletproof, I have no idea why.
According to CANCON, that's good enough! I used to be a DJ, and as long as *someone* involved in the project was Canadian (even a producer or a back-up singer), I could use it towards my 30%-Canadian quota.
