I was thinking it couldn't possibly be a *single* 10-minute zoom because holy hell the calculations that would require. The deeper you go the more computations it takes to generate an image, and since you also end up beyond the precision that a CPU can represent internally the computations have to be emulated in software and become a lot slower as well.
From the original video notes: it took 6 months to render, and from a magnification standpoint it's like expanding a single proton to be 70000000000...186 zeros... times the size of the visible universe.
