"Who knows where they came from..."
Really, it's hard to get Doom's plot wrong.

"realism is what Doom's all about"
that photo of Clinton will forever, in my head, have this theme music
Jet Bin Fever
Shadowgate is such a great game. The music is KEMCO awesome all over.
Ironically, Shadowgate came out in the Reagan years.
Even the NES version was Bush Sr.

I had this and I loved it. Doom on the SNES was Doom as I knew it.

Doom IS all about the realism.

Bottom line: You'll either like it or you won't.

Pretty tame by George Wood standards. Where is the suggestion that Doom Guy struggle with bereavement?

"Life in the world of Doom is very gloomy."

"The scrolling speed is comparable to real life walking speed" -- Really? I'd like to know who walks at 30 mph.
Taken from some game forum:
As a matter of fact, the doomguy runs faster than 30mph.
64 units = ~2 meters.
Player speed, running = ~570 units/second. (This comes from a test I made and might not be precise, you could get an exact value from the source code).
Meters per second = 570 / 64 * 2 = ~18.
18 meters per second = 65kph.
And this doesn't include straferunning. With straferunning, the doomguy runs at speeds around 90kph.

I like to imagine these reviews are pieced together from various samples of this guy.

I don't think this guy ever played Doom. Maximum 100% health? I guess he wasn't good enough to get any orbs. Also, this footage is not from the SNES. The SNES was not fast enough to render all the textures, so the floor and ceilings did not have any.
