Suplexing a cat, now I'm suplexing a train.

Caminante Nocturno - 2010-10-27
The first time I ever fought this boss, the fight ended in less than ten seconds because Shadow's dog killed it one hit.
I love this game.

For those of you who only know Final Fantasy from their CGI-movie-laden, emo-boy, fanfic incarnations (i.e. pretty much everything 7 onward), never ever speak ill of the series that gave us this one. One of the greatest RPGs ever made. This clip alone makes me wanna go out and suplex T-Rexs.

I wonder if I should play this again. I only ever got up to the start of the second half where everything goes to hell - think it started to get a little too serious business for me so I sort of trailed off and lost interest.
|
kingofthenothing - 2010-10-27 Try it, it's pretty good. You go around the world finding everyone else and doing these fun side quests and fighting optional bosses, kind of that whole 'returning hope to the world' thing. You'll probably dig it.

Yeah, this FF and Chrono Trigger are the only RPG's I've ever been able to sit through. I thought there was also a way to kill this train with a resurrection potion?
|
augias - 2010-10-27 You could also use Item "Nickel" on the tracks for an instakill.
|
|
RocketBlender - 2010-10-27 Those and Earthbound were my favorites. I also loved Evermore. Really, with a few exceptions, Square stopped making good RPGs after the SNES faded out.

I actually played this again recently. I picked it up after giving up on Ff13, because I wondered if I just no longer have the patience for Japanese RPGs anymore. Then I played this, Earthbound, and Mario RPG in rapid succession, coming to the conclusion that no, I haven't gotten impatient or ADD since I've grown up, recent games have just sucked.
|
Lurchi - 2010-10-27 Valkyria for the PS3 was good.
|
Cheese - 2010-10-27 Lost Odyssey was pretty decent too, infinitely more fun then FF13.
|
Riskbreaker - 2010-10-27 Good god, FF13 is the most boring thing made into a video game. Between the repetitive shinny floors, tedious combat and invisible story i kept wondering if this was an actual game or just some kind of bizarre experiment for trained monkeys that went wrong. We can all talk shit about previous FF games, but at least they had fun moments, in FF7 the main character is almost gang banged by a bunch of dudes in a sleazy night club, in FF8 there's every single Laguna flashback, FFX had Auron, XII had Vayne, XIII has Cloud in a drag fighting with his friends in the biggest Wal Mart ever built.
There's still some good stuff, but you have to dig for it. Even in the 16 bit era there was a lot of average to mediocre rpgs, not everything was FFVI or CT.
|
|
RocketBlender - 2010-10-28 I actually liked 9, especially because the main character actually wanted to be a hero, instead of the previous 2 emo heros that slowly learn to care about the world and stupid bullshit like that.
Also liked the fact that you had character classes again, instead of a team of fighting summoning red mages.

"Let me guess, suplexing the train, right? Oh yeah."
That's the thing with Sabin. Wherever he showed up, you could be guaranteed of over the top machismo b.s. and great fun.

Zoot42 - 2010-10-27
When I first clicked this I was worried it would not be suplexing the train. I'm glad you guys understand.

Quad9Damage - 2010-10-27
Between this and the Phoenix Down method, the Pussy Express doesn't seem all that tough to beat.

I guess that's what the train gets for farting on him

Whatever intimidation the Phantom Train lacks, Wrexsoul will cover.
|
Wytze! - 2010-10-27 Wrexsoul? Srsly? You can kill him with X-Zone in one go! He's fucking easy!
|
kingofthenothing - 2010-11-25 You do the X-Zone trick and you miss out on the Pod Bracelet - but you can get that, and the much better Marvel Shoes, in the Colliseum anyway.

This video prompts me to tell you all about the greatest battle I ever had in FF6.
Somehow got to the place where you get the "offering" severely underleveled. Got to the point where you open the treasure chest and have to fight an orange ghost samurai.
Down to my last guy with no hope of winning, all it would take is another attack by the samurai to finish me off...but it would be oh so sweet to get the offering now and be able to deliver that damage multiplier.
What can I do? Yes! I have some magicite! Maybe I will get lucky and call Alexander! *magic sprinkles* ok magicite, do your thing.
Is that a cat bouncing around? You can't be serious...what good could a stray god damn cat do me! I bet you the effect will miss anyways. I'm doomed.
Oh, I guess the samurai is confused, well at least it didn't miss...but he'll probably just snap out of after one hit.
*samurai deathstrokes himself*
Oh...well...that worked out rather nicely.
The story was too good to keep all wound up inside of me.

Potrod - 2010-10-27 I beat FF7 by (accidentally) getting lucky 7's in my first turn against Sephiroth after using a potion. My brother beat the final boss of FFIX by having his entire party but Steiner KO'd, having Steiner go into a trance and the boss go into an infinite loop of exclusively using some attack that Steiner was immune to. FF boss battle stories are fascinating! (...to about 3 people)
|
Riskbreaker - 2010-10-28 I finished FFIX on a similar note, Steiner in trance, hit the boss a bunch of times and that was it.
|
Portaxx - 2010-10-28 LGA beat Final Fantasy 6 because Relm's Sketch power glitched (as it was wont to do) and ended up giving him 256 Illumina swords. Shadow just kept chucking them at Kefka until he died.

Ah yes, if you're going to suplex a train, don't forget to take its tent!
