Correct me if I'm wrong, but have these tax cuts ever payed for themselves?

In my lifetime, Reagan & Bush jr left some rather whopping recessions in their wake...

StanleyPain - 2010-11-16

In a word, no. Basically, this crumbling, ancient idea that allowing wealthy people to keep more money because then they'll spread it out to everyone else via the free market is bullshit. At least, in the US. Decades of study of this have shown that wealthy people ( especially REALLY wealthy people) tend to only spread the money around in specific sectors of business (i.e. it never reaches the lower classes), amongst themselves, and in re-investments that only benefit them and their income class.

Ghoul - 2010-11-16

5 for evil, and for the fact that this philosophy actually makes sense to some people.

FABIO - 2010-11-16

Are the Pinkertons hiring?

wtf japan - 2010-11-16

The only way we'll ever compete with third world labor markets is to become a third world country ourselves!

Anaxagoras - 2010-11-16

He's from the South; they already are a third world country. He just wants them to become a *competitive* third world country.

kingarthur - 2010-11-16

Governor Barbour yesterday announced an across the board additional budget cut of 8% to all state agencies, an additional 3 to 4 % on top of that for all universities and community colleges, and threatened the removal of all public funding to the one and only public radio and television station in Mississippi. This is after he already cut the budget four times before FY 2010.

We'd have to up our game if we want to compete intellectually with the third world around here.

Scrotum H. Vainglorious - 2010-11-16

Fucking Texas.

Old_Zircon - 2010-11-16

How do THEY work?

joelkazoo - 2010-11-16

Stars for Zircon (I'll admit that you made me laugh).

chumbucket - 2010-11-16

the trickle-down that supposedly started in the Reaganomics days still haven't dripped down to me yet

Oscar Wildcat - 2010-11-16

I dunno, feels like the super wealthy are pissing on us all the time.

fermun - 2010-11-16

Rep. Gohmert does not understand how corporate taxes work, but has very strong opinions about them anyway.

dueserpenti - 2010-11-16

One day we will see these people skinned alive on TV.

poorwill - 2010-11-16

I would pay a large corporation a lot of money to see that.

Koda Maja - 2010-11-16

The free market demands it!

memedumpster - 2010-11-16

Members of legislative government should be forced to live in economic poverty as a rule of service. The exception, of course, being supreme court justices who should be outfitted with electronic devices that cause them excruciating pain at random times during the day for no less than 50% of their waking life.

pastorofmuppets - 2010-11-16

Fuck it, let's all just incorporate.

pastorofmuppets - 2010-11-16

not a reply sorry

phalsebob - 2010-11-16

Rich people should not pay taxes at all. If the poor can't support our infrastructure, work for sub-minimum wage, and die in foreign lands what the fuck good are they.

Senator_Unger - 2010-11-16

Just form an LLC and file as an S corporation, you whiner. If you're too large to operate as an LLC, then you can suck it up and pay the 35% tax rate.

violenza - 2010-11-16

I misread this upon first glance as "End All Corporate Texas." Now I wish that was right.

Big Muddy - 2011-09-19

Have you not stumbled on to a great slogan and not realized it? I won't lie, that would make for a hell of a bumper sticker my friend.

glendower - 2010-11-17

Ladies and gentlemen, we're fucked.

Interesting factual note that won't matter to people like this: Most corporations pay zero U.S. income tax:
