There were kids doing this where I lived. Luckily no one was killed and they were caught. Their big plan was to throw a washer/dyer off an overpass, onto a car.
These instances are the few times I would be ok with sterilization.

Comatose2 When I was in high school there were a couple of kids in my town who thought it would be funny to throw a watermelon off an overpass onto a passing car. I guess they were thinking the watermelon would just splatter on the windshield which, at best, would probably make a driver have a serious accident at 120 km/hr (75mph).
The actual result was that the watermelon went clean through the windshield and into the passenger seat, then tore the passenger seat out through the rear window/trunk of the car. Pictures of the car were on the front page of the local paper and certainly made an impression. The passenger side of the car was completely destroyed - no chance of anyone sitting there coming out alive.
