Jay Ward was always keen to get into live action. He had no real requirement being in animation exclusively, and wasn't a cartoonist himself, so he tried repeatedly to branch out. "Fractured Flickers" was sort of a proto-MST3K, but the editting necessary to make it was too taxing on the production company, and was cancelled after a season.
