CCA and The GEO Group are major contributors to the American Legislative Exchange Council (ALEC), a Washington, D.C. based public policy organization that develops model legislation that advances tough-on-crime legislation and free-market principles such as privatization.

this really is our story

spikestoyiu - 2010-12-05
Believe it or not, I am well-aware of the privatized prison model. Though I thank you for the Wikipedia links, which I'm sure I never would have found had it not been for you. This Wikipedia website is fascinating; you wouldn't believe the amount of information available here on Chip 'n Dale's Rescue Rangers.

And that's why Billy jumped off the bridge too.

Modern Angel - 2010-12-05
You know what privatizing prisons leads to? Story of Riki. It's a prophecy.

"Public release of the video poses a security risk..."
Now where have I heard that recently?

Guards staying behind glass? My guess is their non-union job doesn't pay them enough to risk their safety on job, and that it's easier to let the fight end before getting involved.

I mean that's one aspect of it. Also, on a psychologically level, I think when you deal with "shitty people" so often you dehumanize them as a means of coping. So when violence occurs between them or against them it doesn't seem like that big of a deal.

Definitely evil.

Son of a bitch. The same goddamned, "releasing this video which incriminates us will cause harm and security risks to us" defense that the US government is using with regards to wikileaks.

It is a despicable lack of taking responsibility for their neglect of human life.
fluffy - 2010-12-05
Also, consider that they have wasted no time closing in on the Wikileaks guy, and yet Osama Bin Laden is still whereabouts-unknown.

drcrypt - 2010-12-06
That's because Osama Bin Laden has been dead for years.

James Woods - 2010-12-06
What you don't know won't kill you. Also, yeah, Osama's Dead.

FeeFiFoFoTheFifeFifeBrown - 2010-12-05
Thesis: If you can even hear or read the words "Corrections Corporation of America" without a chill running down your spine, you're not fully human.
Tobster - 2010-12-05
I'm assuming it's a subsidiary of Omni Consumer Products

Who are pleased to announce a new partnership with the Tyrell Corporation.

chumbucket - 2010-12-06
I was guessing "Ronco"

Vicious - 2011-01-10
What if I raise an eyebrow in a "whu?" expression? Can I still get humanity qualifications?
