Man, how can you cite Hemingway as an inspiration then go on to to write that wordy, masturbatory prose?

Probably the biggest obstacle to people being good writers is being in love with their own voice and never recognizing any of their work as shit (also unlike Hemingway). I'm sure we've all taken creative writing classes and witnessed how the worst writers were always the owns who go the most defensive about criticism.
