It involves a character we don't know enough about to give a rat's ass over obsessing about a game via its trailer. This gag falls flat due to the setup of his obsession being driven home with a sledgehammer before the joke even got started.
Also, while the game could be good, the franchise has doesn't have much cache beyond "big and fun though sometimes poorly written fantasy RPG." The games he told to piss off have more pop cultural presence than the Elder Scrolls games do. Hence, without much actual information about said game beyond the title, there's nothing to poke fun at except the character's obsession, which brings us back to not giving a rat's ass about him.
And then they gave him an erection.
