This was my first (part of) a Songer video. Slightly curious to know whether this is what happens when an obviously original and compelling schtick thins out over 183 episodes, or if it's 100% identical to the first one. Not curious enough to go lookin' though. MAAAN.

They're pretty much all the same. Not that I've made it through more than 3 or 4, but it's pretty much just him yelling and trying his hand at "topical comedy" while jumping around in sandals.

Rember nanu? NAANNNUUUUU-NAANNNUUUU! The vulcan mind mild MANNN. NAANNNUUU! Remember to VOLUNTEER> REMEMBER NAANNNUUUUUU-NANNNUUUU.

This is what all of them are like, only with different arbitrary sounds. Same inflection.

Seriously, he hasn't gotten any better even after 183 attempts. If you tell Daniel Songer a joke with an actual punchline, would he even recognize it as humor? Something tells me this guy laughs at really obscure things, like sticks.

A historian on the subject would say he's objectively gotten worse. When he first started his... let's say "journey"... Songer was a bad stand-up comic. He told very poorly-constructed jokes with hammy and overzealous delivery.

But after a little while, he abandoned jokes completely. He'll trot out the same preposterous stories now and again, but it's pretty much just him screaming out the misremembered lyrics of whatever song is in his head and constantly wondering why he doesn't have his own talk show yet.

One day alcoholism or a gun crime will begin The Next Phase of His Evolution.

Furthermore, his idea of a sensitive, but-seriously-folks tribute to the Japanese earthquake/tsunami victims is to do one of his hip-thrusting shout-songs, where every other line contains the word "mushroom cloud."

The guy is so far outside of any human frame of reference that I find it impossible to imagine what he's like when he's not "on."

If he's ever "off", that is.

Dan Poet Man is better than Dan Christian Songwriter Man by a scale of ten.
