Mother_Puncher - 2011-03-28 I should give this album another shot. I have 5 or 6 Suffocation albums just sitting around because I've never been able to get through a whole one from start to finish. They get boring and tedious.
fatatty - 2011-03-28 Most modern metal has that effect on me. They try so hard to be badass harbingers of destruction and yet it all ends up turning into a mush of double bass, angry bear noises and guitar that goes nowhere.
Mother_Puncher - 2011-03-29 Suffocation's aggressive build ups are really good and usually have great riffs. It's the breakdowns after that I can't dig. Their last album was a massive snorefest with this. The first track starts off with ridiculous double bass and chugging. I'm pretty much not interested in the genre anymore aside from some old school thrashier stuff and the pre-doom cock riding era Razorback Records bands.
Rovin - 2011-03-29 Those Whom The Gods Detest by Nile was really strong. That heavier-than-fuck death tech death sound really meshes well with their middle eastern scales and ambience.
mouser - 2011-03-29 Was going to say it sounded like Cryptopsy but I suppose they all sound that way.
Rovin - 2011-03-29 Pierced From Within > Effigy Of The Forgotten. Expecting flames in 3.... 2.... 1....
I like Suffocation in small spurts. An album here and there. For something to listen to for longer periods, Morbid Angel and Amon Amarth are nice discographies to hit shuffle on on an ipod.
