I love how, in North America at least, all our favorite shit gets fetishized into blithering absurdity. Why can't you just like it because it's a good story? I've never read it, but I'm sure it doesn't need to have a movie, fan or otherwise, made out of it just to "legitimize" it for the masses. And I'm sure grown men and women don't need to dress up as the characters to play make believe that they have a leading role or important part in whatever it is they think they're doing.
It's ok to dress up just to fucking dress up.
It's ok to like things for what they are.

Cuz oh, man. Elfquest. The PINIS.
The Pinis will tell anyone who will listen about two things. The first is their plans for an Elfquest cartoon, and a the second is how all elves are bisexual.
Elfquest will probably never be a cartoon. It's c. 1970s, and looks it, and ACTS like it, in a bad way. It hasn't aged well, but the Pinis have been mounting an absurd, tragicomic quest to get it animated since the first issues. That's almost 30 years. I'm not even into this series, and I can remember the numerous THE CONTRACTS ARE SIGNED, WE'RE GOING TO BE ANIMATED!!!!!!!!!! false alarms from comic journals and news sites. First Nelvana was going to animate it, then some outfit in France, now Warner Brothers. Whatever.
And then there was the multi-page orgy scene, plopped smackdab with no warning in the middle of a comic parents were buying their for their kids.
The Pinis are a weird, weird couple.

Also, is this from some alternate universe where the comics geeks are girls who are so socially awkward that they don't know any guys to play the male parts in their fan film?
