DOOMgeons and Dragons
DOOM blew my mind when I first played it, this and Hexen blew my mind even moreso what with features like flying and being able to look up and down, how quaint it seems today.
I think Heretic was more fun and lively, overall than Hexen, which was just lots of brown, dark corridors filled with traps.

Aw shit yeah. I was so excited about this game I printed off the D&D netbook. Now there was an excellent use of paper.

Between that and the Complete Guide to Hygiene, it's a toss-up about who was writing from a position of greater ignorance.
This game alone was the reason I upgraded from a 286 and why I kept Windows 98 until 2003.
Iron Liches (the quasi-boss giant floating skulls) remain one of my favorite FPS enemies.
I haven't played Heretic in years but the music from the first level starts playing in my head at the most inappropriate times.
