If it's as awesome and mindless as the original (and has a similar price point) I'm in.

If you're going to do a re-hash of your classic 90s FPS, this is how you do it.

There's no pretense behind a game like this, its ridiculous, it makes no sense and its gratuitously violent.

Sure, it will leave you about as satiated as eating chinese food, but its quite enjoyable up until that point.

Well it's funny, it has you exploring ancient historical landmarks, and it doesn't hate women. So its a few classes ahead of duke, even though it's was basically a tribute to it back when it first appeared.

It's not really nineties though. More like early 2000s.

Burnov
Duke isn't bad because of its portrayal of women, and that shit isn't even misogyny, stupid broads willingly make themselves a public spectacle all the time.

Duke Nukem is bad because its pretentious as hell, that kind of politically incorrect shock value simply doesn't "wow" audiences anymore. Its fantastically boring to even look at, you just know exactly how the game plays without even playing it.

I'm a staunch defender of a person's right to not be subject to PC censorship, but seriously, that sort of crap is tired and most people simply don't care. They've got better things to do with their lives than wasting time shouting over a bad game that is pulling the same tricks from the mid 90s with a new coat of paint.

Nah, Serious Sam is better because it basically lays everything out in front of you without all the BS.

"Here's some strange locations, here's a crapload of crazy monsters, here's an impossibly huge boss, here are some moderately amusing weapons."

You play it, you enjoy it, you fart and you're hungry again.

Born in the RSR
I'm not saying Duke is bad because it's un-PC, it's just in bad taste, very bad taste.

"PC censorship"

These stars are for you Burnov, I agree with everything you have said here.

I have really high hope for these game since I do have a lot of fond memories playing the fist game. One thing that always annoyed about the first game was it had a tendency to play really mean tricks on the players that were really just a parody of the genre.

Like for instance sometimes when you collected something simple like a ammo box containing like 10 shotgun shells the game would suddenly go berzerk and spawn like 20 bad guys near your proximity which is a parody of how games like Doom, Duke Nukem and Quake would always spawned bad guys when you would pick up something important like a key card.

TheQuakeSoldier
NO ONE CAN EVER SPAWN BAD GUYS AGAIN WITHOUT BEING A PARODY.

Sphinx
Yeah Hodge but you still picked up that box of shells and you know you loved getting your ass kicked. We all did the same thing.

I just upgraded my machine so hopefully I can host some good rounds of co-op. Or maybe just one epic round where we finish the entire game in one sitting. One glorious, ass numbing sitting.

Caminante Nocturno
Duke Nukem is bad because, among countless other things, everyone has pretty much outgrown the atmosphere and general attitude it has set itself in. The only people who actually care about it seem to be the people offended by it, and even then saying they 'care' about it is going too far.

The original Serious Sam was a conscious rejection of the countless boring, linear, brown, corridor FPSs defined at the time by the Quake games. It was colorful, had huge, open environments and a lighthearted sense of humor.

FPS games have fallen into a similar rut in recent years, and a new Serious Sam is way overdue.

Although I'm probably just getting my hopes up.

The CoD series is the fucking NASCAR of FPS games.

Awful.

This thing had better have some awesome goddamn crates.
Banal Intercourse
Has there ever been a game with a Crate Gun? You could improvise the Anti-Gravity Gun from HL2 to be a kind of crate gun but I want a gun that specifically shoots crates only and in order to reload, you have to run over crates.

Dear Sam,
I love you.

Started playing the original on the ole college dorm LAN. It was pretty easy in co-op so we didn't play it much, but I'd be down for this if it's like $30 bucks. I'm never buying a new game opening day again after Portal 2 dropped the price $20 after two weeks.

Now THAT was some frantic action feeling.
Jet Bin Fever
Still got it.
