Squeamish Terror of invading robot insects aside, this is actually pretty cool. I can see that they may have gotten inspiration from the humble caterpillar. Seriously, line up a dozen or so of these up together and get them to alternate their expansion... thing, and it'd work very much like a caterpillar crawling along.
