1) Kept the Bush tax cuts (which are crippling our economy)
2) Failed to pass real, meaningful oversight regulation to the financial industry after the amazing credit crunch-predatory lending-toxic asset debacle
3) Continued almost all of the previous administration's constitution-melting Patriot Act laws and provisions, including Gitmo, and refused to prosecute anyone caught blatantly breaking laws in The War on Terror
4) Has done more to criminalize and punish corporate and government whistleblowing...ever
5) Is the most vigorous administration in prosecuting illegal immigration in fifty years

Obama is pissing me off quite a bit, but then again, he's also really good at playing the "long game" and I've always been surprised at what he's been able to do considering how fucked up our political system is. It heartens me that conservative moderates are warming up to him. It will make his victory easier. Bush pushed hard right in his 2nd term, until he became a lame duck. It will be nice if Obama steps back from his "Democrats Are Tough, Too" posturing. Before the GOP took over the House, his platform was very different. Hopefully can get back to the kinds of reform we saw in 2010 with things like the Wall Street Reform & Consumer Protection Act and Lilly Ledbetter. The GOP, as it so happens, is trying to roll back the reforms that would have prevented the Great Recession. That's what their agenda is.

To say that Obama is farther to the Right than Bush is just absurd, of course. You've cited areas where he has compromised with the Right, in places where he's trying to keep the Right from dominating the news cycle. That's the game everyone plays. That's the game conservatives have played since FDR to the tune of trillions of dollars in debt and an insoluble Cold War Machine.

You did forget one big piece of Obama's hypocrisy, that he's hired 200 of his contributors, which he said he wouldn't do. That's the total amount Bush hired in his entire 2 terms as president. So he lied. Did I think everything would be rosy pink? No. Am I happy Obama is president? Yes. Is he a better president than Reagan? Absolutely. Will he pull further left if the Dems miraculously take the House in November? I'll put money on it.

Honestly I wouldn't worry too much. The likelyhood of this actually being enforced is slim, or so I would hope. You have to remember that legal measures, ones dumber than this, are constantly introduced, that doesn't mean they'll come to pass.
