Reminds me of when my 25 year old black friend just got out of the navy and was doing contract aircraft maintainence in Iraq. He started telling me about how insurgents almost killed him when they started dropping mortars on the base, blowing up a perfectly good port-a-potty in the process. And how his M-16 jammed while they were returning fire. Then he told me about how, while all this was going on, someone stole his prized Yu-gi-oh deck. He then went on to explain in painful detail the cards he had in the deck, what they did, and his winning strategy. I tell ya, it's like fire and ice with this guy.

My black battle buddy had 2,317 Magic the Gathering Cards confiscated from him by his senior NCO. She caught him playing in the barracks when he wasn't 'posed to, so she upended his card box while he was in the latrine, stomped all over them like Godzilla or something, then made him and six other M:tG nerds do playing card PT. They knew how many cards there were, because she made them do pushups for each and every card in the pile. The guy was pissed because he'd spent his last three months worth of paychecks on those cards, but fortunately he knew his decks by heart, and managed to put them back together again after complaining to the brass and getting them back.

Only one kid in my unit played Yu Gi Oh, and he was routinely beaten up by the Magic players. They wouldn't even let him join their Wiccan circle on Sundays. The military nerd hierarchy can be viscous.

Stars for Doomstein and EvilHomer's stories. It's good to know that the fate of Western democracy is resting in the hands of men who care for nothing more than cards.

Beats starting wars over religion and oil anyway...

Well, cards and anime boxed sets. And World of Warcraft. And in at least one case, forty page printouts of Harry Potter gender-species-transformation fan fiction. Don't even get me started on what the Otherkin guys were fighting for.

Slayers is my favorite anime. FUNimation has put the entire series up on Youtube for free, which pleases me.

They made another season of it last year or so. I wish i still watched anime so i could enjoy it.

Don't bother with the new season. I was really excited, and now I'm only watching it on Netflix out of a dogged need to finish this. It's absolutely terrible and unfunny.

Princess Mononoke isn't anime. Anime is stupid crap, whereas Studio Ghibli films are fine art.

Fine or not , they don't make money, hence are not taken seriously by the studios. But isn't that kind of good? Like do you want the same people that greenlit Eat Pray Love to be making animes also? Fuck NO.

Being so terrible that no one wants to be seen buying it doesn't help either.
