Of course! The problem is they weren't paranoid enough like we in the US are! They didn't have Fox News to spread fear and lies. They should work harder and infringe on civil liberties more to keep the Islamic terrorist threat down even though this was the work of a right-wing Christian anti-Muslim nut. Islamic terrorism!

Sephirock - 2011-07-31

To be fair though Republicans don't believe that they're infringing our civil liberties - they jsut think that we should be flexible now that there's terrorism. I agree with you but I think we shouldn't fall in the trap of distorting their arguments like they always do to us.

Also f-ck Faux News.

positively - 2011-07-25

"Though this particular attack wasn't from Muslims, it was probably caused by the fact that Norway isn't mean enough to Muslims."

joelkazoo - 2011-07-25

Hit the nail on the head, pos!

Jellyneck - 2011-07-25

5 stars for you. Cheers to Fox News for rationalizing the actual motive of the attacker as defined in his manifesto.

badideasinaction - 2011-07-25

Look Norway, it's really simple - you won't have the same percentage of mass-murdering right-wing nutjobs if you simply elect them to office and give them positions of importance and influence in government.

BorrowedSolution - 2011-07-25

I rarely 5 a comment, but take my stars.

Quad9Damage - 2011-07-25

Fox News: More like The Onion every day.

Innocent Bystander - 2011-07-25

There was very little anyone could have done to prevent Breivik from doing this with the standard anti-terrorism methods. Here's a really good article why:

http://falkvinge.net/2011/07/24/security-theater-lessons-from- utoya/

Also: got to vomit.

IrishWhiskey - 2011-07-25

But just think how useful shutting down Penn. Avenue was to stopping the Times Square bomber. You know, the one planned by a complete incompetent that nevertheless was actually ignited, and only failed because the bomb was a dud?

And then there's the guy who shot up a church for political reasons, and the one who flew a plane into an IRS building, and the one who recently also shot up a political rally and tried assassinating a Congresswoman. But I guess since they were motivated by Christian and anti-government beliefs, they don't count.

Bort - 2011-07-25

Thanks, so-called "Innocent Bystander". Your documents will be verified for your own safety.

I am fond of the expression, "There's only one way to keep a secret, and that's to keep a secret". This guy gets it, unfortunately.

IrishWhiskey - 2011-07-25

When Fox news started reporting, they called him an "Islamic terrorist".

When they found out he was motivated by far-right Christian Nationalism, they called him a "Domestic terrorist", and blamed his action on 'fear of Islam'.

Robin Kestrel - 2011-07-25

Now is the time to buy stock in the phrase "lone wolf".

spikestoyiu - 2011-07-25

"and blamed his action on 'fear of Islam'."

Isn't this at least partially true?

Banal Intercourse - 2011-07-25

His 'fear of islam' is no more extreme than the entirety of FoxNews though (see above video).

Rodents of Unusual Size - 2011-07-27

They're rationalizing the motives of a mass killing doesn't seem that far fetched when I consider how Glenn Beck started making a martyr out of Timothy McVeigh.

Robin Kestrel - 2011-07-25

I'm pretty sure they shocked his testicles at :12 and :17 til he finally got back "on message".

chumbucket - 2011-07-25

Islamic Climate Terrorism, Fair and Balanced

Scrotum H. Vainglorious - 2011-07-25

It will be interesting to see how Fox adjust itself when it's primary demographic becomes worm food and scary brown people replace whitey as the predominant ethnic group in the country.

The Mothership - 2011-07-25

Breathtaking.

longwinded - 2011-07-25

really earning the dicks tag

TeenerTot - 2011-07-25

FOX is just concerned that we should all be ready for both kinds of terrorism--Islamic and Muslim.

takewithfood - 2011-07-25

For you.

Cena_mark - 2011-07-25

Its because we wish this had been the hand of Islamic terrorism. Islamic terrorism is terrorism in a nice pretty package; its easier to digest. Domestic terror is much scarier much harder to define. It lacks the us vs them comfort that Islamic terror gives.

longwinded - 2011-07-25

now this is some quality trolling here

IrishWhiskey - 2011-07-25

I'm totally on board with that statement. It's not condoning irrational fears and prejudices to acknowledge them.

Grandmaster Funk - 2011-07-25

Whoah, Cena_Mark is making sense. Have you been cutting back on the gasoline-sniffing or something?

Innocent Bystander - 2011-07-25

Marky, baby, snap out of it. You're making sense.

Cena_mark - 2011-07-25

If the attacks were Islamic it would also give further justification to the war on terror. Technically this is terror, but we'd rather fight people in a faraway land not our neighbors. Domestic terror attacks also justify liberals in their pursuit of more stringent gun laws. I have no idea how Breivik thought he would help the right out with this madness; all he's going to do is strengthen the nanny state he so hated.

SolRo - 2011-07-25

Crazy right-wing people are crazy? Do go on.

While all political factions have their crazies, only the right-wing feeds these people a constant stream of paranoia, fear, promotion of voilence, and racism. Also you fight for them to be able to own weapons. And your pundits constantly call for their opposition to be shot.

You create people like this. All those deaths are on the heads of the right-wing spin machine.

Cena_mark - 2011-07-25

Sorryhoe - Well that's a pretty strong statement. Nobody encourages anybody to murder. The right doesn't provide any of those things you talk about. Racism? Come on, the only racism that exists is in the crazy lieberal mind where opposing illegal immigration is some how racist.

SolRo - 2011-07-25

You forgot your other gems;

Muslims are terrorists

Black people are lazy/stupid

Jews run the media/world/banks

Hispanics are criminals/lazy

I'm sure I'm forgetting many many more.

SolRo - 2011-07-25

Oh crap, your stupidty was so copious I didn't notice all of it.

Me thinking you're racist makes me racist? Do explain how that one works.

Cena_mark - 2011-07-25

Now you're putting words in my mouth. I don't think you're racist by calling me racist. I just believe the R word is terribly abused and overused by the left. They spout it out as a knee jerk whenever they want to steer an argument in their favor. "Oh you say New Mexico is merely enforcing a federal law? Well you just don't like Mexicans cause they're brown; you're racist."
I never said that about about any of the minorities you've stated. The closes is that I've said "Most terrorists are Muslim. But I don't hate blacks or hispanics, and I don't buy any of those stupid anti-semetic conspiracies.

SteamPoweredKleenex - 2011-07-26

"Most terrorists are muslim."

Depends on where you live, I suppose. According to the FBI stats from January of 2011, Islamic-related terrorist plots clocked in at 45 plots.

The Right Wing/White Supremacists scored 80.

Most terrorists you're likely to meet are white and right wing. I hope you profile people accordingly.

Mother_Puncher - 2011-07-25

Speaking of outrageous bullshit and made up "facts" thinly-veiled as hate mongering and religious agendas, I wonder how Molotov feels about all of this. He'll probably make a video in the near future about this, say it's because Norway is too tolerant and then say that the whole world is tired of liberals.

Toenails - 2011-07-25

If he does it's likely it'll never get ported to Youtube. There's no way Molotov will say anything that isn't pants-shittingly offensive to anybody outside WND.

Hell, there's a god damn video on WND he made entitled The 'birthers' won! (birthers in quotes as if he wasn't one of those this whole fucking time) that hasn't been uploaded to his Youtube channel yet.

In the last half of a video he reads an email from some guy named Cena_Mark who mocks him for the birther movement (yeah our Cena mocking Molotov). Molotov just smugly takes credit for the birth certificate and makes a pun out of Cena's name.

Yeah, that's fucking right. Molotov makes a pun on Cena_Mark's name.

IrishWhiskey - 2011-07-25

Holy shit, you weren't joking.

The first half of the video claims Democrats rewrite history while hoping that no one watching has ever heard of the Civil Rights Act of 1964, Lyndon Johnson's statement while signing, or the southern realignment. Because if they have, he looks like either a unscrupulous liar, or imbecile.

The second half involves his rewriting history by pretending Obama claimed not to have a long-form birth certificate, and that proving otherwise was a victory.

The most likely bet is that Molotov would do exactly what every other fundamentalist is doing: Claim that because the radical (not terrorist) was amoral, he could not have been Christian, but rather an amoral atheist influenced by the kind of permissive culture that tolerates homosexuality. And that the global conspiracy of leftists is using this as an excuse to attack America and Christianity, who are the real victims in this tragedy.

Cena_mark - 2011-07-25

I never liked the birthers; they made the right look retared, so I wrote a comment asking him to admit the birther movement was wrong. Of course he said the point of the birthers was to make him show the certificate, which he did so they won. That wasn't the point of the birthers. They wanted nothing short of impeachment; a retarded impossible goal.

SteamPoweredKleenex - 2011-07-27

I think you mean MORE retarded. Even without the birthers, the right has Sarah Palin, Joe the Plumber, Tim Pawlenty and his Traveling Christian Lunatic Brigade, the GOPers who have been elected who didn't know taxes are lower now than under Saint Reagan and don't seem to remember Saint Reagan raised the debt limit 17 times, and this doesn't even begin to touch on the Tea Party lunacy that parades itself before the nation every day.

Why, just this week, Freshman GOP congressman Billy Long (R-MO) tweeted:

No one could reach #AmyWinehouse before it was too late. Can anyone reach Washington before it's too late? Both addicted - same fate???"

No birthers needed, there.

memedumpster - 2011-07-26

If we just come out and say "Christian terrorism" we can save a trillion dollars by fighting the War on Terror here without costly exports. It takes a lot of fuel to invade a country across an ocean. It is economically sensible to oppress terrorists here in America instead. You want to create jobs? It would take a LOT of people to browse news forum comments to make a list of Christian terrorists, and even more to burn down their compounds, shoot their animals, beat the shit out of them, and put them in camps. I own property, I would gladly volunteer it to erect a Christian terrorist enhanced interrogation camp. Come on, America, stop disenfranchising us, give us a shot at also being imperialist oppressors, I want to so badly, Christianity deserves it more than we could ever give it, and no one would care enough about those fucks to help them.
