Actually I interpreted it as a knock against the "big brother" tactics...given the fact that the only morally grounded characters in the movie objected heavily to it...

In fact, I remember republican reviewers complaining about this movie for this exact reason, claiming that it was too obviously a political attack on the DOHS and Bush.

Also...its a freaking movie, get a life, go outside.

If batman REALLY cared about making people's lives better he would stop spending millions on crap like cars and bullet-proof nipples and just donate a few billion to the police department, fire-services etc.

But he doesn't because unless he beats a "criminal" half to death he can't get an erection.

Basically batman is part of the problem, not the solution.

I think that is what makes Nolan's Batman interesting...they make the point that Batman is as much a cause of the problems as he is the solution.
