It probably would have been cheaper, easier, funnier, and truer to the source material to make it look like an actual 70s cartoon instead of making it an anime.
I agree, but they're probably trying to cash in on the success of Afro Samurai and the Boondocks with the animation style, so I guess it's more of a marketing decision than anything else.
